(b) Yellow elastic fibres: They are branched and much fewer. They are formed by a protein elastin. They are found in ligamenta flava, elastic arteries etc. The elastin protein is most resistant to chemical changes, that is why mummies have intact arteries. The elasticity diminishes with age.

(c) Reticular fibres: They are formed by protein reticulin. They are inelastic and found more abundant in embryo and new born babies. They are branched and freely anastomose. They form framework of lymphoid organs and many glands.
