Protective Coatings

Coatings are utilized on metal products either for protective or for protective and decorative both purposes. Generally, coatings or finishes are utilized for the purpose of decoration, corrosion resistance, surface protection, and providing of a hard wear resisting surface. The covering must be uniform and free from checks, runs or peelings. In some example, coatings are applied earlier to completion of fabrication. Mostly, however, coatings are applied to completed components to compose the ultimate product, and provide interposition of a continuous barrier to obstruct reactive environment to attack surface.

The key to successful finishes is a clean surface to announce good adhesion. There is considerable difference in cost of ultimate materials and processes for applying the various finish kind as there are competitive means of drying, cleaning and coating.
