Manufacturing Time and Cost Estimation

This module can be used to estimate the times and direct costs in molding, core-making and dressing departments in the foundry on the basis of man-hours per unit weight of casting. This is often based upon the average values considering the tonnage of castings produced in a particular casting shop over a period of time. Needless to say that such time and cost data are accumulated and standardised by the Methods Department over a period of time for a particular industry. It is thus, specific to an industry/shop and is customisable.

The CAPP system retrieves the standard Process/Labor times and cost rates for each work center and estimates the manufacturing time in molding, core-making and dressing departments. Having established the manufacturing time, the casting, core-making and molding cost can be found out by the CAPP system.

The module is used to estimate the density and cost per unit weight of a composition of casting material (alloy), core mixture or a mixture of molding sand. Criteria such as combination by Volume/Weight based on percentage or preparation can be used to estimate the density and cost per unit weight.
