Actual Vapor Power Cycle

The actual Vapor Power cycle is distinct than ideal Rankine cycle by examining different irreversibility’s related with components of the two systems. The ideal and actual vapor power cycles are shown in the figure below. It can be examined that the deviations of the real pumps and turbines from the ideal isentropic ones can be correctly accounted for by using adiabatic efficiencies, which are stated as:

The different effects of irreversibility related with pumps and turbine on the ideal Rankine cycle is as shown in the figure above. In which 2i, 4i are the isentropic exit states of the pump and turbine and 2a, 4a are the real exit states of the pump and turbine.
