Manual, Fixed, and Hammer Actuators:
Manual actuators are capable of placing the valve within any position but do not allow automatic operation. The most general categories mechanical actuator is the handwheel. This category involves handwheels fixed to the stem, hammer handwheels, and handwheels linked to the stem by gears.
Handwheels Fixed to Stem
As described in Figure, handwheels fixed to the stem gives just the mechanical benefits of the wheel. While these valves are exposed to high operating temperatures then valve binding makes operation hard.
