Root User

There is a user id known as "root" or super user.  This user has some special privileges.  A root user has access all the parts of the UNIX operating system. There are no files which cannot be read through the super user and there are no portions of the file system inaccessible to the super user and there are no UNIX commands unavailable to the super user.  A super user controls all the aspects of UNIX system usage and configuration. A super user is entitled to the special prompt: that is denoted by #.
