Systems of Units:
There are different schemes, or systems, of physical units in use all through the world. The meter-kilogram-second (mks) system, also known as the metric system or the International System, is privileged by most physicists. The centimeter-gram-second (cgs) system is used less frequently, and the foot-pound-second (fps) system, also known as the English system, is used seldom by scientists though is popular among nonscientists. Each system has numerous fundamental, or base, units from which all others are derived.
