Gate Valve Seat Design:
Seats for gate valves are either gives integral along with the valve body or within a seat ring category of construction. Seat ring construction gives seats that are either threaded within position or are pressed into position and seal welded to the valve body. The next and last form of construction is recommended for higher temperature service.
Integral seats give a seat of the similar material of construction as the valve body when the pressed-in or threaded-in seats permit variation. Rings along with hard facings might be supplied for the application whereas they are needed.
Small, forged steel, gate valves might have hard faced seats pressed inside the body. Within some series, this category of valve in sizes from 1/2 to 2 inches is rated for 2500 psig steam service. In huge gate valves, disks are frequently of the solid wedge category along with seat rings welded in, threaded in, or pressed in. Screwed in seat rings are considered replaceable because they might be erased and new seat rings installed.
