Compute Server

The compute server passes client requests for data to a data server and forwards the results of those requests to clients a compute server may perform application logic on the results of the data requests before forwarding data to the client.Compute servers’ needs processors with high performance capabilities and huge amounts of memory but associatively low disk subsystem capacity and throughput.

Through separating the data from the computation processing and organization can optimize its processing capabilities. Because a data server can serve more than one compute server compute intensive applications can be spread between multiple servers.
