Statically Indeterminate Beam:
While the number of unknown reactions or stress components exceed the number of static equilibrium equations available, that means ∑Hx = 0, ∑Vx = 0 and ∑Mx = 0 then, the beam is called to be statically indeterminate. This means, the three equilibrium equations are not sufficient to analyse the beam. Examples are as follows :
1. Fixed beams,
2. Propped cantilevers,
3. Continuous beams.
