Wedge and Flat Cams:

Wedge cam contains wedge shape that imparts motion to the follower. It is illustrated in Figures (a) & (b). The wedge 'W' contains translatory motion. The follower 'F' can have translatory or oscillatory motion. In Figure (c), the cam is stationary & the follower guide G contains translatory motion. Rather than using a wedge, a flat plate with a groove may also be utilized as illustrated in Figure (d). While plate translates, follower will also contain motion.
