Objectives

After studying this unit, you should be able to

• Elaborates the various conventional and advanced technologies in current use,
• Describe how they are applied for the effective treatment of municipal wastewater,
• Describe the type of aerobic and anaerobic biological processes and their use in wastewater treatment, and
• Conceptualise the biological processes included in activated sludge process, stabilization pond, trickling filter, rotating biological contactor and aerobic and anaerobic sludge digestion.
