Comminution

Comminutors are used to pulverize large floating material within the waste flow. They are installed while the handling of screenings would be impractical, commonly among the grit chamber and the primary settling tanks. Their use decrease odours, flies and unsightliness. A comminutor might have either rotating or oscillating cutters. Rotating-cutter comminutors either engage a separate stationary screen alongside the cutters, or a merged screen and cutter rotating both. A several categories of comminutor, called as a barminutor, includes a combination of a bar screen and rotating cutters.
