  • The result of this transformation in circuit is demonstrate in diagram (b).
  • In the dig (b), the output from the full wave rectifier is compared along that of a half wave rectifier .

Note down that the full wave rectifier contain two positive half cycle out for every one generated by the half wave rectifier.

  1. Transformer indicated in the diagram is centre tapped transformer.
  2. This kinds of transformer contain a load associated to the center of the secondary winding.
  3. The voltage from the centre tap to each outer winding is equivalent to one half of the secondary voltage. For instance, let's say we contain a 24V centre tapped transformer. The voltage from the centre tap to each outer winding terminal is 12Volts.
  4. Centre tapping of the transformer plays a vital role in the operation of the full wave rectifier. For this cause, the full wave rectifier cannot be line operated, that is this cannot be associated directly to the ac input as the half wave rectifier can.
