Q:      Find out the peak load voltage for the circuit shown in the diagram.

SOLUTION:

                        Primary, the ac input to the transformer is changed to a peak value, like follows

                                                V1(pk) =    V1rms/0.707

                                                            = 120/0.707= 169.7Vpk

                        Now, in the secondary circuit the voltage values are determined as

                                                 V2(pk) = N2/N1(V1pk)

                                                             = 1/5(169.7)

                                                  V2(pk )= 33.94Vpk

                        As well as

                                                     VLpk = V2(pk) - VF

                                    Diode is a silicon diode

                                                           = 33.94 - 0.7

                                                  VLpk = 33.24Vpk
