Toxicity:

Toxicity is associative. It refers to a harmful effect on a few biologic mechanisms.  The word toxicity is generally used in comparing one chemical agent along with another, other than such comparison is meaningless if the biologic mechanism and the conditions, under that the harmful effects occur that are not specified.

While the toxic effects of several chemical agents used in organization are well called, the toxic effects of several other general used chemical agents are not as well defined.  A toxicity of a material is not a physical constant (like as melting point, boiling point, or temperature); thus, only a common statement could be made concerning the harmful nature of a provident chemical agent.

Several chemical agents are nonselective within their action on tissue or cells; that might exert a harmful effect on all living matter. Other chemical agents might act only on specific cells. Another agent might be harmful only to certain species; other species might have built-in protective devices.

The degree to that a substance will affect living cells could be measured only after recognizable modifies have occurred subsequent absorption.   A few changes (impaired judgment, delayed reaction time) might be produced at stages too low to cause real cell damage.  It is dependent upon the rate, dose, method, and site of absorption, and several other factors involving common state of health, individual differences, diet, tolerance, and temperature.

In common, industrial poisonings commonly result from ingestion, inhalation, and absorption.
