Absence of a substance:
The absence of a substance from the list does not essentially denote in which a substance is not toxic. A few hazardous substances might not qualify for the list since the dose which causes the toxic effect is not known.
Other chemicals related along with skin sensitization and carcinogenicity (ability to cause cancer) might be omitted from the list, because these effects have not been reproduced in experimental animals or since the human data is not definitive.
It is not the reason of the list to quantify the hazard through way of the toxic concentration or dose which is presented along with every of the substances listed. Hazard evaluation includes far more than the recognition of a toxic substance and knowledge of its associative toxic potency. It includes a measurement of the quantity which is available for absorption through the user, an amount of time that is available for absorption, the frequency along with that the exposure occurs the physical form of the substances, and the presence of other substances, additives, and contaminants (toxic or non-toxic).
The purpose of the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is to ensure the individuals working with chemicals and in the vicinity of chemicals have exact information on these chemicals. This form recognized the chemical through its technical and general name and lists the physical/chemical features and fire, explosion, and reactivity hazards. The second page specifies health hazards and recommends first aid process. A safe handling and control measures are also supplied. The MSDS is an extremely helpful document, or personnel working around chemicals should make it a practice to review those sheets often for their own safety. Figures are copies of the MSDS.
The Code of Federal Regulations recommends in which the hazards of all chemicals generates and imported is evaluated and the information concerning the hazards be transmitted to the employers and employees. An MSDS, labels on containers, and employee training should be element of a comprehensive hazards communication program.
