Layout Work and Safety Issues
It is essential for an operator to layout a work-piece so that the lay out lines will provide guideline throughout the machining process. Most of the layouts contain scribing straight lines, circles, arcs, and angles on the surface of a work-piece. There are several ways to layout work and the method use will depend on the accuracy required and availability of the tools.
Objectives
After completing this unit, you should be capable to understand
1. Scribing the angle with the rule, bevel protractor, universal bevel protractor,
2. Choosing the appropriate method of angular layout,
3. Layout circle and arc using dividers and trammels, and
4. Layout hole locations by using test circles.
