Heat Treatment

This treatment is the process through controlled cooling and heating of metal to induce desired properties. The process reasons changes in the structural arrangements in the structure of the metal. The structure of an alloy is made up of various phases, which precipitate from molten mixture depending on the rate of cooling. The reader might like to enhance familiarity along with phases by revising parts of ‘Material Science’ and we will avoid such details in this section. The medium carbon steel, high carbon steel and alloy steel are particularly sensitive to heat treatment. Some handbooks describe heat treatments of some classes of steel. This will suffice here to provide brief description.
