Setting Time Test:

This test is used to check the initial and final setting times of the cement. The initial setting time is determined so as to give sufficient time for various operations such as mixing, placing, transportation, and compaction of cement concrete or cement mortar. The last setting time is determined to search that after laying the cement concrete or mortar, a hardening should be rapid so in which the structure might be made in use as early as possible. For determining the setting time of cement Vicat apparatus is used.
