Decentralised Plant Engineering System

In this system the Plant Engineering activities are split into some groups. There are three such ways in general practice. The first way is to split the department into convenient number of wings like mechanical maintenance wing, electrical maintenance wing, electronic maintenance wing, utilities and services maintenance wing, etc. The second way is to divide into the groups like breakdown maintenance groups, preventive maintenance group, Reconditioning group, etc. The third way is to split the maintenance crew

into number of teams equal to that of the number of production shops and to look after all maintenance jobs related to their respective areas. The concept of specialisation and Taylor's scientific management principles are followed in this system.
