Use of submerged arc welding:

this is important that the slag is totally removed before making another weld pass. The submerged arc process is shown  in Figure.

Factors that find out whether to use submerged arc welding include :

o   The chemical composition and mechanical properties need of the final deposit.

o   Thickness of base metal to be welded.

o   Joint accessibility.

o   Position in which the weld is to be made.

o   Frequency or volume of welding to be performed.
