Soil Treatment under Floor
Cracks in floors are the weak spots that allow entry of termites from soil below the floor. The cracks commonly occur at the junction of the walls and floor, expansion joints in floor and at construction joints within a concrete floor. Cracks in floors might also develop because of use of unsound materials or on account of defective workmanship. In those cases, eradication of termites is achieved through poisoning the soil underneath the floors while such cracks are noticed. Drilling 12 mm diameter holes at 300 mm centre to centre all along the cracks in the floors in various areas and then injecting chemical emulsion into the holes till the soil below gets fully saturated commonly carry out this operation. A maximum quantity of the chemical emulsion might, thus, not exceed one liter per hole. The holes in floors are sealed after treatment.
