Optical isomerism is other instance of configurational isomerism and is so named due to the ability of optical isomers to rotate plane-polarized light clockwise / counterclockwise. The presence of optical isomers has extremely significant consequences for life, because optical isomers frequently have important differences in their biological activity. Except their biological activity and their influences on plane-polarized light, optical isomers have similar chemical and physical properties.
