Constitutional Isomers
Isomers are compounds that have similar molecular formula (that is they have similar atoms), but different in the manner these atoms are arranged. There are three sorts of isomers. That is:
1. Constitutional isomers,
2. Configurational isomers, and
3. Conformational isomers.
Constitutional isomers are isomers in which the atoms are connected together in a dissimilar skeletal framework and are different compounds.
Configurational isomers are structures comprising similar atoms and bonds, but which have dissimilar geometrical shapes that cannot be inter converted without breaking covalent bonds. Configurational isomers can be divided and are different compounds along with different properties.
Conformational isomers are diverse shapes of the same molecule and cannot be separated.
