Objectives of Standardisation

The primary objectives goals of standardization are

• Maximising the use of common parts in different product;
• Minimising the number of different types of parts, components, assemblies, and other items;
• Maximising the use of interchangeable and standard or off-the-shelf parts and components;
• Minimising the number of different models and makes of equipment in use; controlling and
• Simplifying inventory and maintenance; and
• Reducing storage problems and the effort spent on part coding and numbering.
