Leaf Springs:
These are called as laminated, carriage or built-up springs. These are utilized in cars, lorries, automobiles and railway wagons.
These are built of number of leaves of equal width and thickness, but varying length. The number of leaves reduce towards the end of the spring. The spring is designed such that the maximum bending stress is similar at all of the sections.
Types of leaf springs :
a. Semi-elliptic type, and
b. Quarter-elliptic type.
