(a) A use of lightweight concrete results in the reduction of cost to the extent of about 30 to 40%.

(b) The decrement in weight of concrete helps easy removal, transport and erection of pre-cast products.

(c) The lightweight concrete could be prepared by using the local industrial waste, if found suitable.

(d) A lightweight concrete has greater fire resistance as compared to the ordinary concrete.

(e) The sound absorption coefficient of the lightweight concrete is about twice that of the ordinary concrete. The sound absorption of lightweight concrete is good because the air-borne sound energy is converted into heat in the small channels of the concrete.

(f)  The lightweight concrete has commonly a lower thermal expansion than ordinary concrete.

(g) The lightweight concrete raises the progress of construction work.
