Q:  By using source transformation method calculate the voltage Vo of the given circuit.

Solution:

We have to calculate the voltage Vo by using source transformation method. We will further proceed as

            12 V source is in series to 3k resistor. Therefore it may be transformed into current source having value     

                                        I = 12/3k =4mA     // Ohm's Law

             In transformed circuit 4mA current source and resistor 3k is in parallel. Therefore altered circuit will be

            Now we will join current sources as 4m - 2m = 2mA, therefore our transformed circuit will be like

2mA source is in parallel to 3k source so it can be converted into a voltage  source of value

                                                            V=2 x3 = 6volts (by Ohm's Law)

            Our transformed circuit will be like,

In the above mention circuit 3k is in series to 4k so transformed circuit will be as

            Now we can apply voltage division rule

                                                            V0 = 2k/9k  x 6

                                                                   =12/9= 4/3 volts               Ans.
