Risk Components and Drivers

The United State  Air  Force  has  written  a  pamphlet  which  contains  good  guidelines  for  software  risk abatement  and identification.  The Air force approach needs what the project manager identify the risk drivers that affect software risk parts support, performance cost, and schedule.  In the circumstance of this discussion the risk parts are describe in the following terms.

1. Performance risk is the degree of uncertainty in which the product will meet with its requirements and be fit for its intended use
2. Cost risk the degree of uncertainty in which the project budget will be maintained
3. Support risk the degree of uncertainty in which the software will be easy to adapt, correct, and enhance
4. Schedule risk the degree of uncertainty that the project schedule will be maintained and that the product will be delivered on time

The impact of each risk driver on the risk parts is elaborate into one of 4 impact parts negligible critical, marginal, and catastrophic. To indicates the potential consequences of errors or a failure to get a desired outcome.  The impact type is chosen based on the characterization which is best fits the description in the table.
