Resources

Resources are the second task of software planning is estimation of resources needed to accomplish the software development effort.  In the Figure shows development resources as a pyramid.   The development environment- software and hardware tools-sits at the foundation of the resources pyramid and give the infrastructure to support the development effort.    At  a higher  stage  we  encounter reusable  software components software  building  blocks  which  can  dramatically reduce development accelerate delivery and costs .  In the diagram at the top of the pyramid is the primary resource-people. Each resources is specified with 4 characteristics which describe the resources a statement of availability, chronological time which the resource will be needed and duration of time in which the resource will be applied.   The last 2 characteristics can be viewed as a time window. Which is available for the resource of a specified window must be develop at the previous practical time.
