Artificial Intelligence (AI) software use for non numerical algorithms to solve the complex problems that is not straight forward analysis or amenable to computation. An active AI field is expert systems also called knowledge-based systems. However other application fields for AI software are pattern recognition game playing and theorem proving. In recent years a new branch of AI software is called artificial neural networks has also evolved. A neural network simulates the structure of brain processes which is also known as the biological neuron and may ultimately lead to a new class of software that can recognize complex patterns and learn from previous experience.
