Dewatering

A number of methods are used for dewatering, that is a physical unit operation aimed at decreasing the moisture content of sludge. The selection of the appropriate sludge-dewatering method depends on the features of the sludge to be dewatered, available space, and moisture content requires of the sludge cake for ultimate disposal. While land is available and sludge quantity is little, natural dewatering systems like as drying beds and drying lagoons are most attractive. Mechanical dewatering methods involves centrifuge, vacuum filter, filter press and belt filter press systems.
