Maximum Mechanical Advantage:
Law of the machine is
P = m W + C
W = P - C/ m =(P/m)(1/(C/P)
or M. A. =W/P =(1/m)(1-(C/P))
When an effort (P) increases, (C/P) decreases and mechanical advantage increases as indicated by the expression (2). If the value of P is extremely large such that C/P is extremely small, results in maximum mechanical advantage. Thus, maximum mechanical advantage may be expressed as:
Maximum M. A. = 1/ m
