Thin Spherical Shells:
In this section, we will obtain expressions for the stresses and strains in spherical shells and use them for working out the related problems.
Assumptions
We consider the following to derive the expressions for the stresses and strains in thin shells.
1. The diameter of the shell is more than 20 times the thickness of the shell.
2. The Stresses are uniform over the cross-section from the inner surface to the outer surface.
3. The weight of the shell material and that of the fluid contained inside are not taken into account.
4. The atmospheric pressure is taken like as the reference pressure.
