Integrated Circuits:
Most of the integrated circuits (ICs) appear like plastic boxes with protruding metal pins. General configurations are the single-in line package (i.e., SIP), the dual-inline package (i.e., DIP), and the flatpack. The other package appears like a transistor with many leads. This is a metal-can package, at times also termed as T.O. package. The schematic symbol for an IC is a rectangle or triangle with the component designator written in the interior.
