Dispatching Rules
While a processing unit gets ready, a job should be selected from its input queue for immediate setup & processing. It refers to as dispatching. Generally Dispatching rules are classified as being static or dynamic. Static rules are those that remain constant as jobs travel through the plant, for example LTWK, EDD whereas dynamic rules are those that change with time & queue characteristic, for example LWKR. Sometime s dispatching rules are also distinguished as myopic or global. Myopic rules look just at the individual machine, for example SPT whereas global rules look at the entire shop, for example.
