Grey Iron Castings:
This procedure is very much like sand casting and green sand casting procedure. It might be done as flask-less moulding. The difference is that the molten material is grey iron. Grey Iron is white iron to which 2% to 3% carbon has been added to decrease brittleness and hardness of iron.
Examples of usage shall be: housings, pump bodies, sewer covers, impellers gears, blanks, pads, bases, motor mounts etc.
