Hazards in Sampling:
In the sampling, handling and storage of the gaseous and volatile materials, there are some hazards involved and due precautions should be taken. The analyst must, as a common rule, try to acquire a prior knowledge of the material that is expected to be analysed. An analyst must wear adequate protective clothing in during sampling. Adequate antidodes etc must be kept prepared before proceeding for sampling work. No naked flame should be permitted near a sampling area, if the sample is known to hold inflammable components. Several gases/ vapors might be toxic. Pressure changes might release excessive quantities of gas. Spontaneous ignition of inflammable gases might occur. Sudden vaporisation of liquefied gases might take place. Volatile and inflammable liquids might pose sufficient dangers to a careless analyst. By using a facemask/ goggles during sampling is highly recommended.
