Operating Machine Tools

The safety measures may change from for different cutting tools to different machining processes. Still, there are a number of common safety rules that should be religiously practiced throughout the operation of machine tool.

These accidents are prevented by:

(1) Never try to operate the machine tool till one is fully conversant with its mechanism.

(2) Make sure that all the safety guards are in place before starting any machine tool.

(3) Never wear loose clothing around machine tool.

(4) Keep your hands away from moving parts of the machine.

(5) All the time wear safety glasses in a machine shop, particularly when operating machine tool.

(6) Stop the machine previous to trying to clean it or to measure the dimension of the work-piece.
