Objectives of Roof Trusses:
After determining the forces in the truss members they are designed as tension or compression members as the case may be. The purlins are designed as flexural members.
Objectives
After studying this unit, you should be able to
- select from the various types of roof trusses, the one most appropriate for your job,
- Approximation the loads acting on the roof truss selected,
- analyse and calculate the forces in the various truss members, under these loads,
- design a member of the truss for the worst combination of loads,
- design a purlins under various load condition, and
- design wind bracings, joints, bearing plates, etc.
