Goods:
The most basic approach in relation to the trade in goods is that competition should be the prime deciding factor for import and export. The consumer should have the freedom to choose a product based on price, quality and other related considerations. The rules centre around this concept.
Towards the objective of ensuring free competition, there are two basic principles in the area of trade in goods in the WTO:
(i) the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) Treatment principle and
(ii) the National Treatment principle.
