Mass Distortion:

The other interesting consequence of relativistic speeds is a rise in the masses of objects since they move faster and faster. This rise takes place to the similar extent as the reduction in length and the slowing down of the time.

POINT OF VIEW: MASS

When we travel within a space ship, despite of its speed, the masses of all the objects in the ship with us emerge normal as long as our ship is not accelerating. Though, from the vantage point of Earth, the mass of the ship and the masses of every atoms within it rise as its speed rises.

Suppose m is the mass of the moving ship as a multiple of its mass whenever it is stationary associative to a spectator. Suppose u be the speed of the ship as a fraction of the speed of light. Then,

m = 1/(1 - u²)^1/2

    = (1 - u²)^-1/2

This is similar as the factor k. It is all the time greater than or equivalent to 1. Look at the figure as shown below. Since the space ship moves more rapidly, it "scrunches up." Visualize now that it also becomes huger. The grouping of smaller size and greater mass is a "double whammo" in view to the density of the ship.

Assume that the rest mass (that is, the mass if stationary) of our ship is 10 metric tons. Whenever it speeds by at half the speed of light, its mass rises to a slight more than 11 metric tons. At 80 % of the speed of light, its mass is around 17 metric tons. At 95 % of the speed of light, the ship masses around 32 metric tons. At 99.9 % of the speed of light, the ship's mass is greater than 220 metric tons. And therefore it can go indefinitely. Since the speed of the ship move towards the speed of light, its mass grows larger and larger with no boundary.
