High-Speed Particles:

You have heard expressions like electron rest mass that refers to the mass of an electron whenever it is not moving associative to a spectator. When an electron is viewed whizzing by at relativistic speed, it contain a mass greater than its rest mass and therefore will have kinetic energy and momentum greater than is implied by the formulas used in classical physics. This fact, not like spatial distortion, is more than meager fodder for "mind experiments." Whenever electrons move at high sufficient speed, they achieve properties of much more massive particles and obtain some of the properties of the x-rays or gamma rays are emitted by the radioactive substance. Here present a name for high-speed electrons that act this manner: beta particles.

Physicists take benefit of the relativistic effects on the masses of helium nuclei, protons, neutrons, and other subatomic particles. Whenever such particles are subjected to powerful magnetic and electrical fields in a device termed as particle accelerator, they acquire moving too fast that their mass increases since of relativistic effects. Whenever the particles strike atoms of matter, the nuclei of those target atoms are broken. If this occurs, energy can be discharged in the form of visible light, infrared, ultraviolet, x-rays, & gamma rays, and also a potpourri of the exotic particles.

When astronauts ever travel long distances via space in ships moving at speeds close to the speed of light, relativistic mass rise will be a practical concern. Whereas their own bodies won't seem to be much massive from their own point of view and the things within the ship will emerge normal to them, the particles whizzing by exterior will become huger in a real and dangerous manner. It is scary sufficient to think about what will occur if a 1kg meteoroid strikes a space ship traveling at 99.9 % of the speed of light. Though, that 1kg stone will mass more than 22 kg whenever u= 0.999. Additionally, every atom exterior to the ship will strike the vessel's "prow" at relativistic speed, generating deadly radiation of the same kind which takes place in high energy particle accelerators.
