Alkenes to epoxides:
Treatment of an alkene along with a peroxyacid (RCO3H) results in the creation of an epoxide. M-Chloroperoxybenzoic acid is one of the most often employed peroxyacids for this reaction. The reaction is not usual in that there is no carbocation intermediate, and includes a one-step process without intermediates.
