WHAT IS RECRUITMENT?

Recruitment is the procedure of locating and encouraging potential applicants to apply for present or anticipated job openings. Actually it is a linking function, joining those together with jobs to fill up and those seeking jobs.

Recruitment, logically, aims at (i) attracting a big number of qualified applicants who are eager to take up the job if it's offered and (ii) offering sufficient information for unqualified persons to self-select themselves out (for instance, the recruitment ad of a foreign bank can invite applications from chartered accountants who have cleared the CA examination in the first attempt only).
