Determining Manpower Gaps
The present number of personnel and their skills (from human resource inventory) are compared with the forecasted manpower requirement (demand forecasting) to find out the qualitative and quantitative gaps in the workforce. A reconciliation of supply and demand forecasts will provide us the number of people to be recruited or made redundant as the case can be. This composes the basis for preparing the HR plan. Box 5shows the reason of how demand and supply forecasts can be related over a period of three years.
