Some of these reactions are so significant that they are named after the scientists who developed them (for example Grignard and Aldol reactions).
Other way of classifying reactions is to group identical types of reactions together, depending upon the process or method involved. This is specifically useful because particular functional groups will go through certain types of reaction category.
