Data

Data is any information in pieces and bits. An employee number, customer names, number of centuries scored by Tendulkar, amount of sales, are instance of data. To operate with the data, the data required to be related so that it is easier to locate and search them. Here, data becomes meaningful only if it is related. To describe this better let us consider an Office where essential information required to be stored as shown below:

Data Models

Models are a cornerstone of design. Engineers establish a model of a car to work out any details before putting it into production. In the similar manner, system designers develop models to improve the understanding and explore ideas of the database design.

Purpose of Models

The Models help communicate the concepts in people’s minds.  They can be used to do the following things:
