Comparison method: 

In this method, a synthetic mixture holding known quantities of the components of interest in the range of concentration expected within the unknown sample is analyzed and prepared. The values for the peak areas for various known volumes of synthetic blends are predictable and a calibration curve is plotted An exact quantity of the unknown sample is then injected and the peak areas so computed are used to read from the calibration curve the concentration of the component in the unknown mixture.
